中关村软件园中心花园

The Central Garden of Zhongguancun Software Park，Beijing

2003年2月，我们通过竞赛获得了中关村软件园中心花园的设计项目。中关村软件园位于北京的西北郊，是被誉为中国“硅谷”的中关村科技园的一个重要部分，总面积139ha，总建筑面积约60余万m²，已经有130多家软件企业在其中办公。软件园的中心，是为这些企业服务的公共花园，面积约5.5ha。

花园的设计要体现IT企业园的特点，并为在其中工作的职员提供休息、消遣和交流的舒适场所。花园要求有一定面积的水面，如同一个蓄水池，容纳软件园内部的再生水，为园区内植物的灌溉提供水源。

In February 2003, by winning the design competition, we were committed to do this project.

Located at the northwest suburb of Beijing, Zhongguancun Software Park is an important part of Zhongguancun Science & Technology Park, known as China’s “silicon valley”. It covers an area of 139ha with a total building area of 600,000 m² . More than 130 software enterprises have already set up their offices there at that time. The center garden would provide them open public spaces. The site area of this garden is about 5.5ha.

The garden should not only reflect the character of IT enterprise, but provide pleasant places for relaxing, recreation and meeting. Lake was required to hold the reclaimed water of the Park and irrigate the garden plants as a cistern.

近年来，随着中国经济的快速发展，企业景观成为中国景观设计实践的新领域。由于这一类型的项目在中国几乎没有什么历史经验可以借鉴，因此这是一个充满挑战的新领域，但也恰恰是一个没有传统束缚的领域。

根据软件园的总体规划，基地的东南侧是内部环路，其余方向环绕着6个大型软件公司的独立办公楼和其内部花园。但中心花园开始设计的时候，周围这些建筑还未构思，基址上原来的农田和破旧的农居已经被清理，成为一块空场。场地文脉的缺乏迫使设计师从花园所在环境的性质、功能和使用者的要求来获取灵感。

花园必须包含的蓄水池功能对湖的面积和容量提出了复杂的要求。湖的大小和深度的确定不仅需要考虑美学的因素，还需要考虑不同季节的降雨量、蒸发量、再生水的出水量以及灌溉需要的水量。同时，还需要一些措施来保证湖水的水质。

With the rapid economic development in China today, the corporate landscape design is becoming booming. However, with limited experience or precedents to be borrowed, it is still a new challenging profession field; but it is also a field free of conventional restrictions.

According to the Master plan of Zhongguancun Software Park, the internal ring road is located at the southeast of the site and 6 separate large-scale office buildings with their private gardens are laid out around the site in other directions. However, these buildings had not been designed yet when we commenced to do this project; rather, original farmlands and farmhouses on the site had been cleared away and left a blank site there. Thus, the designers had to obtain inspirations from the goal of the development, the functions of the garden and the users’ needs.

Considering the function of a cistern, it became much complicated to calculate the surface area and storage capacity of the lake. Not only aesthetic but also other factors, such as the rainfall and the evaporation volume in each season, supply of the reclaimed water and the amount of irrigative water, etc had been taken into accounts. In addition, some other measures were taken to keep the water clean.

设计师认为，软件园的公共环境应该体现出与软件企业一样的创新精神，并满足多方面的使用功能。由于IT产业的职员普遍相当年轻，因而花园的风格应当更多地符合年轻人的欣赏习惯，他们通常对新事物抱有极大的兴趣。在这个景观设计实践的新领域，设计师希望用一种创新的景观建立一个样板，探索有中国特点的企业花园的设计途径。

The designers held that public environment of the Software Park should reflect the innovation spirit of software enterprises while satisfying various needs. As the staff members engaged in IT industry are fairly young, the garden should make a great effort to meet the youth’s aesthetic tastes. Usually the youth show great interest towards new things. By creating a new unique landscape, the designers hope to provide a model of corporate garden in China and explored the design approaches for it.

今天的信息社会，数据通过有形或无形的线路在世界范围内传递，并将全球的人联系在一起。设计师由此获得灵感，试图创作一个“线条交织的花园”，用代表不同含义的各种形态的线交织成内容丰富的体系，仿佛信息社会中复杂而协调的线的网络，又如潇洒飘逸、表达线条之美的汉字草书。这一设想使该花园产生了独特的结构和空间。

It is an information society today. By transmitting around the world through tangible or intangible ways, data have made the world linked together. Inspired by it, the designers tried to create a garden of intertwined lines, in which the various meaningful lines were shaped into a system, symbolizing the network of the information society or Chinese calligraphy. This concept has provided the garden a unique structure and spaces.

通过复杂的计算和反复的权衡，最终确定合适的湖面积和水的深度。湖水深度的变化有利于水体的流动，防止水质恶化。同时，为了保持水质，岸边和水中设置多处喷泉和跌水，湖中种植水生植物。整个花园设计成盆地状，在蒸发量最大的夏季（也是雨季），周围绿地的雨水可以汇入湖中，补充水源。

With complicated calculations and time-consuming discussions, the surface area and depth of the lake have been determined. The change of lake depth is good for water movement and is helpful to prevent water from deterioration. Besides, in order to keep the water clean, many fountains and waterfalls have been laid out along the bank or in the lake. Water plants have been planted in the lake. The topography of the garden is shaped as a basin so that in the rainy days, the rainwater of the garden would flow into the lake to supplement the water.

花园的结构由各种线条，包括直线、曲线、折线、流线等交织而成，其中水线、晶体线和数据线三条线最为突出，它们将湖中小岛与岸边联系起来。水在中国传统文化中象征着智慧，在这里代表着软件企业必需的素质。水线由金属格栅和流水构成，像一道闪电，象征着智慧的启迪。水线末端的之字形格栅桥也是中国传统曲桥的一种现代形式。晶体线象征着计算机和微电子产品的核心物质——晶体硅，是一条由玻璃和灯构成的光的轴线，联系了小山、广场和湖中的岛屿，以一座玻璃桥作为结束。数据线由金属板和石材构成，象征着信息在电子世界中的传播方式。

The garden is structured by various types of lines: curves, broken lines and streamlines etc. Among them, the most prominent ones are the Water Line, the Crystal Line and the Data Line. These lines connect the small islands in the lake with the land. In traditional Chinese culture, water symbolizes wisdom. Here it represents the essential quality to a software enterprise.

Water Line is made up of metal grids and flowing water. It looks like a strip of lightning and symbolizes the enlightenment of wisdom. The zigzag grid bridge at the end of Water Line is derived from traditional Chinese bridges.

Crystal Line symbolizes the crystal silicon, the core material of computer and micro-electronic products. It is an axis made up of glass and lights, connecting the hill, plaza and the islands in the lake. It ends up with a glass bridge.

Data line is made up of metal plates and stones. It symbolizes the way by which the information is transmitted in the electronic world.

花园中分布着一系列不同形状的广场，提供了休息、消遣、冥想和欣赏风景的地点。船形咖啡厅坐落在主要广场的一侧，朝向宽阔的湖面，为职员提供了一个舒适的交流场所，也象征着软件企业的开拓精神。

花园被塑造成一个地形起伏的盆地，它的景色对南侧的道路开敞，吸引人们进入花园。盆地的最低处是一个有机形轮廓的宽阔湖面，湖中有一座小岛。花园的地形有利于雨季时收集雨水（以前通常是通过管道排走），用于回渗地下或补充湖水。花园的制高点是一座锥形小山，螺旋形道路和台阶通向山顶的观景平台，这里也是晶体线的起点。

花园中运用了70余种当地植物，如柳树、杨树、松树、竹子和大量的灌木，试图创造一个良好的生态环境。湖中种植了荷花、睡莲、芦苇等水生植物，既美化了湖面，又有利于水体的净化。

There are series of plazas in various shapes in the garden. They provide places for relaxing, recreation, contemplating and good place to view the scenery. Ship-like coffee house is situated at a side of the main plaza, facing the broad lake. It offers the staff a comfortable place to meet. It also symbolizes the pioneering spirit of the software enterprises.

The topography of the garden is designed as a basin shape. It opens its scenery to the southern road so as to induce people to enter the garden. An organic broad lake with a small island is situated at the bottom of the basin. The topography of the garden is good for rainwater collection during the rainy season (normally it was discharged through the pipes), for seeping into the grounds or supplementing lake water. The commanding point of the garden is a cone-shaped hill, where a corkscrew path and a flight of steps lead to the belvedere at the summit. It is the start point of the Crystal Line as well.

In order to create a favorable ecological environment, a variety of local plants have been planted in the garden, such as willow, aspen, pine, bamboo and a great deal of bushes. Water plants have been planted in the lake, including lotus, water lily and bulrush etc. Not only have these water plants enhanced the beauty of the garden, but cleaned the water.

花园第一期工程于2004年建成，最后一期工程于2006年完工。从初步建成到现在，不仅业主非常满意，并且也受到在软件园工作的职员的欢迎和许多同行的好评。它已成为中国现代企业景观设计的一个样板，表明了花园艺术、企业精神、使用功能与生态效应是如何完美地统一的。

The first phase of the garden was completed in 2004 and the last one in 2006. This garden was favorably received by the clients and has been popular among the staffs in the Park. It also won acclaims from other professionals. Having successfully integrated the enterprise spirit, the functions and ecological effect with the garden art, it becomes a model of corporate garden in China.
